I watched a show about the worlds most dangerous airports yesterday, and St Barts happened to be on that list. Not that the airport is dangerous in itself, but it’s a dangerous place to land. Mainly because of a very short landing strip – se the photo below.

One of my friends is currently at Saint Thomas, also a carribbean island. The fact that I envy her a bit doesn’t require a reason I would imagine.

Rooms with a view

When I once decide to settle down, I sincerely hope I’ll be getting a room with a view. A room with a window is the first step, a room with a view the second. Preferably a view of the sunrise or sunset, now that would be amazing.

This past week I’ve been getting constant notifications on my phone, saying there’s no more available space for taking photos. I guess I didn’t really know how much I used it. I love having a camera in the phone, it makes you look so much less like a creep when you take photos around town, unlike with a DSLR.

I’ve decided to spend my saturday alone, cleaning the apartment and doing what I feel like, perhaps drawing later on. I went to a party last night that sorta bummed me out. I guess when you’re not on the same level of drunkenness (Try extremely sober) as all the people you know, getting half a litre of beer down your neck and afterwards the leg, really isn’t that much fun. I always have fun when I’m at this place, but for some reason last night just wasn’t fun. Perhaps it’s time to move on to something new?

I got this pretty flower by a friend of my mom, so kind of her! It’s now decorating my bedroom window.

Stockholm

Anja and I went to visit Stockholm on Tuesday. It’s my first time to ever see this city, and unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of time to see it. Well it might not be that unfortunate since it was pretty damn cold. I’d like to come back in the spring or summer someday, but probably mostly to see Gamla Stan. Stockholm doesn’t immediately strike me as my kind of town.

This past year I’ve been juggling so many different ideas on what to do with my life, because I knew that sooner or later, the moment where I had to make a decision would come. I’ve been so very blessed by getting an awesome job right after finishing school, so making a bigger decision got delayed for another year. I’m so thankful for this, it’s given me valuable experience, an amazing network, new friends, new skills and the opportunity to prove to myself that I’m capable of having a real job, and to do it well. (One of my most common worries while studying)

All of the ideas I’ve been juggling with have had something to do with travelling. As a matter of fact, it’s been “how can I get away with travelling while still making a living?”.. Ideas such as studying abroad, moving to another country and working holiday have been on my mind nonstop – I mean REALLY nonstop. My family must be getting reeeally tired of listening to me – I’m so sorry!

However .. I didn’t reeeally dream of returning to school again, and I didn’t reeeally dream of working as a dishwasher some place in the world, but I could deal with it just because that meant I got to travel some place new and exciting.

Last weekend I visited my family, and during dinner the conversation somehow ended up being about careers, and my sister suggested that I could become a travel/tour guide. I immediately said “no”, and so did my mother. But the thought got stuck in my head, and less than 24 hours later, I sent an application to a travel agency who were looking for new people to recruit. (Thanks to my mom, who said “go for it – why not?” while I was hesitating) I got through the first selection round – they were actually interested. But because I wasn’t able to start in april, I would have to apply later, the kind lady told me.

At first I was a bit bummed by the news, but now I’m seeing things in another light .. It made me realize that I really want to see if I’ve got what it takes to become a travel guide. And so it happened, that I’ve once again got a dream.

There’s no point to life if you don’t have something to strive for, some sort of goal. I don’t believe in one life equals one goal, I believe in one life equals endless of goals. And I’m so thrilled that I’ve now found one again. It might not turn out like I want it to right now, but only time and hard work will tell right?
