flying

Before flying to Stockholm yesterday. Taken with iPhone

This past year I’ve been juggling so many different ideas on what to do with my life, because I knew that sooner or later, the moment where I had to make a decision would come. I’ve been so very blessed by getting an awesome job right after finishing school, so making a bigger decision got delayed for another year. I’m so thankful for this, it’s given me valuable experience, an amazing network, new friends, new skills and the opportunity to prove to myself that I’m capable of having a real job, and to do it well. (One of my most common worries while studying)

All of the ideas I’ve been juggling with have had something to do with travelling. As a matter of fact, it’s been “how can I get away with travelling while still making a living?”.. Ideas such as studying abroad, moving to another country and working holiday have been on my mind nonstop – I mean REALLY nonstop. My family must be getting reeeally tired of listening to me – I’m so sorry!

However .. I didn’t reeeally dream of returning to school again, and I didn’t reeeally dream of working as a dishwasher some place in the world, but I could deal with it just because that meant I got to travel some place new and exciting.

Last weekend I visited my family, and during dinner the conversation somehow ended up being about careers, and my sister suggested that I could become a travel/tour guide. I immediately said “no”, and so did my mother. But the thought got stuck in my head, and less than 24 hours later, I sent an application to a travel agency who were looking for new people to recruit. (Thanks to my mom, who said “go for it – why not?” while I was hesitating) I got through the first selection round – they were actually interested. But because I wasn’t able to start in april, I would have to apply later, the kind lady told me.

At first I was a bit bummed by the news, but now I’m seeing things in another light .. It made me realize that I really want to see if I’ve got what it takes to become a travel guide. And so it happened, that I’ve once again got a dream.

There’s no point to life if you don’t have something to strive for, some sort of goal. I don’t believe in one life equals one goal, I believe in one life equals endless of goals. And I’m so thrilled that I’ve now found one again. It might not turn out like I want it to right now, but only time and hard work will tell right?

Tangent Fjord by Jacob Jensen

Yesterday I received my christmas present from work. We’re quite lucky, since we actually had about 5 different choices. I chose this awesome stereo fom Jacob Jensen, called “Tangent Fjord”. It’s my first one ever, and I already love it. The fact that it’s built for my iPhone (and other Apple products) is perfect. While playing music, it charges your iPhone / iPod etc. And not to mention, the speakers are great.

Urban Outfitters Lomography Cameras

I visited an Urban Outfitters store for the first time yesterday, along with my friend who was shopping for her girlfriend. I never really knew they had so much stuff besides clothing, and what a pleasant surprise. Now this store is the obvious hipster shopping-palace, but I’m thinking you can find a lot of pretty cool presents in here! I might even have to go check it out later this week.

Among the things I liked, I found these Lomography cameras. Obviously they almost made my heart melt, seriously .. Have you seen exactly how cute and small the Diana Mini Camera is? It’s pure love, these cameras are so cute. They’re not the most handy cameras, of course, since you have to buy film and all.

So if you’re looking for the quality of a good DSLR camera, but the size of one of these babies, a good suggestion would be the Sony NEX-series. I’ve been checking them out today, after hearing lots about them from friends, and I definitely wouldn’t mind getting one along with a few lenses. If I were to go travelling long distance again, this Sony Alpha NEX-5 would be quite awesome because of the size.

Tri Orisky pro Popelku (Three Wishes for Cinderella)

One of my all time favorite movies is without a doubt, Three Wishes For Cinderella, or as the original name goes Tri orísky pro Popelku. I remember watching it during christmas when I was younger, but then they stopped showing it as an annual thing. I’m not sure exactly why I came to love this movie so much, but I did – and I still do. Last year I got it for christmas, and I was so thrilled, and today I’m thinking it’s time to see it again.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the movie, it’s a Czech production from 1973 starring Libuse Safránková and Pavel Trávnícek. Classic lovestory, classic cinderella story. If you ever get the chance, you have to watch it, it’s such a beautiful movie. Comparing to todays movies, it’s poorly produced, not the greatest use of the camera, but it is from 1973 – and it’s pure magical.

The best Cinderella movie I’ve ever seen.

A status quo on life

August 25th

I’m not sure if I’ve given you guys one of those status quo on life recently, but I was thinking that if not – it’s about time. Summer is coming to an end, one that I’ve feared quite a bit. I knew 2011 would be a crazy year, since I would finish my education, and didn’t really know what would become of me. Sounds kinda depressive, but I guess most of you know the feeling – if not yet, well wait and see.

I was surprised when the calendar said 1st of July and I was surprised when it said 1st of August. Summer simply vanished into blue air. As you know, I was working my butt off at my internship, and now it seems it all paid off – because I’ve gotten a job.

I’ll be starting in October, and for at least 10 months, that’ll be my ‘throne’. I honestly couldn’t have hoped for more. I had kinda come to accept that I wouldn’t be getting a job in this company, because of financing and all. But life surprises you sometimes, in my case New Zealand didn’t turn out the way I had hoped for, and my boss got pregnant. Everything happens for a reason, I truly do believe that, and this time I’m glad to say, that it turned out positive, with me getting a job.

So, besides getting a job, this also means I’m going to look for a new home. I can’t live this far away from the place I work, and all of my friends who I love to hang out with. So a new project has begun – finding an apartment for me before October.
