I ended up getting very excited last week, when I was informed with the news, that we had great possibilities of seeing aurora borealis that night, or northern lights as it’s also called. Much to my disappointment, not even the most remote area of my neighbourhood was remote enough. All I got was city lights and lights from construction sites. I did however read online the next day, that people further up north were able to see a green belt above the horizon.
Merry Christmas

Merry christmas everyone. This photo shows exactly how christmassy it is outside. (Hint : Not a lot)
Food and the city

I sincerely love food, like most people do. But I never really got to the point where I loved preparing food, or cleaning up afterwards. So most of the days making dinner is a project I don’t feel like starting on. Thank god for work, they provide all the different foods the human body need – including cake!
I’m not as extreme as Carrie in Sex & The City though, I DO use my oven – and not for storage!
Tonight soup was on the menu, so it’s not like I don’t try.
Breaking Dawn Part 1 – What on earth were they thinking?

I went to see Breaking Dawn Part 1 yesterday, along with 3 colleagues. Now first thing that has to be said is, we’re all big fans of the books, the music and the movies, so don’t think I’m a hater for saying what I’m gonna say.
But seriously, WHAT were they thinking?
I was close to feeling horrified within the first five minutes, the acting was awful! All conversation seemed superficial, nothing deep at all. I don’t blame the actors, since we’ve seen them do better in the first tree movies. The only one that gave me a bit of a “Now this is Twilight” was Charlie, Bella’s dad. He seemed to have some classical Charlie lines.
The first 20-30 minutes after the intro all goes by in a romantic blurr. There’s a wee bit too much kissing and happy days. While being on the tropical island, one thing that bugged us all was, Edward didn’t even sparkle .. What’s up with that? I mean, that’s one of the basic vampire “rules”.
The wolfpack was like half the size they used to be, in appearance, not numbers. The entire dialogue from the book within the wolfpack was SO off, it reminded me of Star Wars / Lord of the Rings the way they spoke. They haven’t managed to capture the essence or magic of the wolfpack at all, which is a shame – since it’s such a big part of the book.
Another big problem for me was the lighting. In Twilight it’s cold colours, blues and greens, in Breaking Dawn it’s friggin CSI Miami – even the vampire has a tan! And Forks looks like a warm and fuzzy place. That’s just so incredibly wrong.
They actually managed to ruin the story. Missing important scenes and dialogues, adding more physical action (The wolfpack attacks the vampires – which doesn’t happen in the book like that, obviously put in to simply add something interesting). And the only place in the movie where you get a really strong reaction is when Bella is giving birth. They’ve gone all CSI on you with blood and particles flowing internally. And it’s not even that creepy, it’s funny in the worst way ever – when it’s not supposed to be!
I laughed twiced during this movie, once at the wedding, second when Bella’s uterus was being ripped by Edwards teeth. Horrible, simply horrible. It’s not sad, it’s not sweet, it’s not creepy, it’s not funny .. It’s BLAH. I want to see Breaking Dawn in a Catherine Hardwicke edition. This one is absolutely horrible.
One good thing? .. Taylor Lautner is still lookin fine n dandy!
I’m watching Departures
After watching all six seasons of Dawsons Creek – yup, about 10 years late on that one, I thought it was time to get real. Seriously, Dawsons Creek was awesome, but when you get depressed (Such a strong word) about the fact that they’re supposed to display how dull their life in the creek is, and you find you’re own life even less intriquing, then my friend it’s time to get real.

Borrowed from HalogenTV
I decided to get real with these two awesome Canadian guys (and no I’m not doing a complete Canadian theme here – despite it might seem so) who are starring in the show Departures. Basically, they took one year out of their life to travel the world. Somehow they’ve managed to have friends all across the countries, which definitely makes it easier – but still, they’re bloody awesome. I’m just finishing first season, so I’m not really sure how long they’ve actually been travelling as of today, since I noticed there’s a fourth season too.

While in Auckland, New Zealand, Justin finds this soft plushie ..

And figures out it ain't half bad!
